When the BMW i3 was launched, it was fitted with a 60 Ah (22.6 kWh) battery with optional REx. The second-generation battery, introduced in 2016, was 94 Ah (33 kWh) with optional REx. The batteries now boast a capacity of 120 Ah (42.2 kWh).

The BMW i3 60Ah is an electric car equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a usable capacity of 19 kWh, made up of 96 lithium-ion cells. The battery’s nominal voltage is 360 volts, and each cell has a capacity of 94 Ah and a nominal voltage of 3.75 volts. The battery weighs around 300 kg.

To recharge the BMW i3 60Ah battery, the car is equipped with a fast charging system that recovers up to 80% of the battery’s charge in around 25 minutes in direct current (DC) with a power of 50 kW.

In slow charge mode, the battery can be charged to a maximum of 7.4 kW in alternating current (AC), allowing up to 100% of the battery charge to be recovered in around 6 hours.

The BMW i3 60Ah is a practical electric car for city driving and everyday commuting. It offers a range of around 190 km on a single charge.

The BMW i3 60Ah REX is an electric car with a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery, made up of 96 lithium-ion cells. The battery’s nominal voltage is 385 volts, and each cell has a capacity of 94 Ah and a nominal voltage of 3.75 volts. The battery weighs around 300 kg.

In addition to the battery, the BMW i3 60Ah REX is equipped with a small gasoline engine that acts as a generator to recharge the battery when it is low. This range extender option, known as the Range Extender (REX), gives the car a longer range.

To recharge the battery of the BMW i3 60Ah REX, the car is equipped with a fast charging system that recovers up to 80% of the battery’s charge in around 25 minutes in direct current (DC) with a power of 50 kW.
